After September 11th of 2001 this year Tre' has decided to update her biography as well as "let more people in..." as she prefers to being more "elusive" about her life.
In the year 2002, we at Limited Original Dolls by Tre' are very much looking forward to her up-coming life story "Hell County Texas...The True Story Of A Modern Day Crucifixion."
Born Terressa Crystal Vaden she is now Terressa Bernadette Kaminski...but is known to the 11 1/2 inch Fashion Doll World as simply "Tre" and her business as Limited Original Dolls by Tre. Tre' has designed for many famous celebrities from Liz Taylor to Pete Burns (of the England-based group Dead or Alive).
"I don't make a doll that doesn't make a statement" says Tre'. "A doll simply has to have a story behind her along with a name and personality. I put every ounce of me in what I create."
Having worked for big name designers and hair/make-up in Hollywood and on Broadway, Tre' has a "God-given" gift of design and art states the San Francisco Chronical-one of many publications she has been featured. The New York TImes as well stated "a artist/designer of the "first degree". From the start of Tre's career she has received many honors too numerous to name.
Tre' also was one of the pioneers of customization and has opened many doors to the idea of buying a doll without a major company name behind it. Tre' was for many years "a Fashion doll designer" before this was considered to even be a true vocation or full-time career. She is also the most published of ANY female doll artist/designer.
"The only reason I gave up my other career(s) was because I wanted to find a better mold to work with. Mattel's BarbieŠ doll was my answer. She is the world's most famous lady. She doesn't lose or gain five pounds, she's ageless and SHE DOESN'T TALK BACK."
"I also don't believe in charging an arm and a leg for an eleven and one half inch piece of vinyl. My dolls are as expensive as you want them to be."
"Extensive bead work and design is very hard when you are doing it by hand. Rooting a doll head is extensive work. I charge for my time as well as my talent. I look at every doll as a creation of Fine Art. In other words the costume does not come off, the hair isn't really going to be re-brushed...I mean it might bounce off the floor but it will still be in good shape."
After extensive college in NYC and working for the many Couture Houses and Runways for many years-- understandably Tre', as well as the rest of the world, was "completely devastated when the attack on our country occurred so unexpectedly on that day that changed America we knew" Tre' states.
Tre' only produces 30 to 50 creations a year.
"She never had to sell her dolls...they sold themselves" says a long time friend and Barbie Doll Expert. "She was always tre'-rrific!" says Betty Ann, owner of Doll Shoppe In the Park, an exclusive Fashion Dolls store in the San Francisco Bay Area.
But due to the fact that "being a mother comes first" in her life since the birth of her son Ross three years ago , Tre' has completed only ten dolls. One being "Diamond Lil" a FIRST PLACE winner at the 2000 National Barbie Doll Convention in Tulsa Oklahoma. She had previously won "Chairman of the Judges Choice Award" among many other honors in many previous doll conventions.
"So take your time and enjoy the beauty, the connections, friendship-to-be's and possibly something you just can't live without, because that is what this web site is here for. "
Sincerely,
Limited Original Dolls by Tre'
